On to New England but stopping at Niagara Falls

After the Rally we started on toward or final goal: New England in the fall!  With the help of an EZ Pass we purchased in South Bend we were able to make better time at the seemingly endless toll booths along the interstate highways. We stopped for dinner at a Cracker Barrel restaurant in Erie, PA.  Cracker Barrel, like Cabela's, welcomes RVers and invites them to stay overnight in their parking lot.  We did just that, only to be awakened a few times during the night by tour busses stopping there to change drivers.

Once we reached Niagara our campsite at Fourmile Creek State Park had a maple tree on one side and a willow on the other.  Since we left Oklahoma none of the state parks we have been to have had water hookups at the campsite.  Some haven't had any hookups at all.  Fourmile Creek was a pretty "civilized" park with large open areas of mowed grass, trimmed trees and very little privacy, but electricity only at the campsites.

After our arrival we made a quick trip to see nearby Old Fort Niagara.  The history of the fort and it's involvement in the war of 1812 were fascinating. Buildings there were built by the French, the British and the US during the course of the fort's use.  It's location was critical to protecting trade routes along the Niagara River waterway and the Great Lakes.

The following day we saw the famous Niagara Falls. It is certainly something so see at some point in one's life.  Awe inspiring is all I can say.
