Into Vermont

As we left the Niagara Falls region we began to really see some beautiful foliage.  We went across New York to Cranberry Lake State Park.  It was the end of the day and we needed a place to park for the night.

Well, it was a beautiful park, almost empty (4 campers in 160 sites), and there were no hookups at the sites.  We had become accustomed to campgrounds up north not having water, but no electricity?  To make things a little more inconvenient generators were only allowed from 4-7 pm and from 9-11 am.  Betty had some business to tend to online at 8 pm so it was done by Coleman lantern and her mi-fi.  I know some campers don't like to hear a generator running late at night or early in the morning (just like I don't like hearing barking dogs or crying babies at such times) but extending the hours sure seems logical.

Once into Vermont we saw one beautiful scene after another unfold before us with each hill we topped.  Sometimes entire mountainsides were a sheet of color.

We planned on being there a couple of days so we found Rivers Bend Campground at called it home for a while.

As we passed by Lake Champlain we kept an eye out for "Champy". We didn't see him.

We spent a day in Waterbury, Vermont where we toured Ben and Jerry's Ice Cream and visited Green Mountain Coffee Roasters.  Later we stopped at Dakin Farm and sampled a variety of locally produced sausages, cheeses and maple syrups.  All delicious.

No trip to Vermont would be complete without seeing at least one covered bridge.  We saw several, some of them closed to vehicles, but this one caught us by surprise as we rounded a curve.

Our fear was that our trailer would be too tall, but this bridge had been recently rebuilt and accommodated us without any trouble. That was good because there was a long line of cars behind us and no place to turn around!  I took this picture while driving and holding the camera out the window, aimed backwards, and hoping for the best. I got lucky.
