Fall Foliage 2013 part two

We continued on to Watkins Woolen Mill State Park in Missouri, where we spent the night and then toured the old house and mill the next day.  It was fascinating to see how people lived and worked in the 1800's. This mill is the only mill in the US from that era with all the machinery in it and still intact.

We had heard that Cabela's sporting goods stores welcomed RV'ers, so we gave them a try.  In Owatonna, MN we were invited to spend the night in their parking lot.  There was a fresh water filling station, dump station, dog kennels, and about 30 spaces for RV parking. Only one other rig was there, so we parked there overnight.  The parking was free, but the amount we spent in their store more than made up for it. Hmmmm.  They animals on display inside they store are a must see.

Lake Wissota, Wisconsin was our next stop. There we discovered a tiny water leak in a supply line and we were forced to turn off our water pump to stop the leak.  Of course it was a Saturday and no parts were available until Monday.  Now, dry camping isn't so bad if that is what you are prepared for, but if it is a surprise, well, that's not so fun.  We decided to hustle on in to the KZ factory ahead of schedule and get the repair made there.  But first, we were only a few miles from Chippewa Falls, Wisconsin, home of the famed Lienenkugel Brewery.

It was Sunday morning, they opened at 11 am, so why not? We enjoyed  samples of the various varieties of beer they produce and learned the history of the company.  Add a giant pretzel and we had lunch!  Betty, who doesn't normally like beer, even discovered one she liked.

At Lake Wissota we saw the first hints of fall.

We overnighted at another Cabela's on the west side of Chicago, then departed very early in order to get into Indiana when the repair facility opened. We had no idea that they went to work at 5 am.
